Volunteers

Looking for a new challenge that’ll provide a real sense of achievement? Put your talents and experience to use as a volunteer. Whether you’re supporting officers as a Special Constable, developing your skills as a Police Cadet or looking after your neighbourhood as a Community Speedwatch volunteer, there are many ways to get involved in #TeamNP.

Volunteers help us in our mission to keep Northumbria one of the safest places to live, work and visit. We’re constantly evolving our range of opportunities for volunteers, here’s how you could get involved in our work:

  • Special Constables – volunteers with the same uniform and powers as regular officers
  • Police Cadets – a 3 year scheme for 13-15 year olds, helping them to develop skills and confidence and get an insight into policing
  • Mini Police – a fun and interactive programme for school groups aged 9-11
  • Police Support Volunteers – Community Speed Watch, Cyber Crime, Rural Crime, and Victim & Witness Service volunteers use their specialist skills to help us keep our neighbourhoods safe
  • Chaplaincy – our force chaplains provide support and a listening ear to our workforce.

We want our volunteers to feel valued and part of our police family, so we support them with training and development opportunities to reach their full potential.
