""As a Police Constable I am able to immerse myself fully into the communities I serve in order to fully understand their needs. I get no greater job satisfaction than being the person that people turn to when they are most at need. I am passionate about helping the vulnerable in our communities to be as safe possible."

Our Location
A great place to live and work
We're incredibility proud to serve a population of 1.5 million in Northumbria. Within our 2,000 square mile region we've more than 100 miles of coastline, vast areas of countryside and two vibrant cities of Newcastle and Sunderland. There is nowhere quite like it to live and work.
Northern Area
Command
Our Northern Area command covers North Tyneside and rural Northumberland and offers a variety of different policing challenges.
Northern Area Command
North Tyneside
North Tyneside is a mix of urban areas combined with award-winning coastline. The areas of Tynemouth and Whitley Bay are summer hot spots while commercial and leisure developments such as Silverlink and Royal Quays also attract local visitors. North Tyneside is the location of our force headquarters in Middle Engine Lane, Wallsend. There are also other police bases in North Shields and Whitley Bay.
Northern Area Command
Northumberland
Northumberland is one of the largest counties to police in England and Wales in terms of square miles. Save for the south east corner it is a largely rural county, with quaint market towns to the west and unspoilt beaches and countryside to the north. Kielder Forest, Northumberland National Park and Holy Island draw in national and international tourism, not to mention the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hadrian's Wall.
We have police bases in Berwick, Alnwick, Morpeth, Ashington, Bedlington, Blyth, Prudhoe and Hexham.
Central Area
Command
The two main cities that make up Central Area Command are
Newcastle and Gateshead which means policing and supporting
the popular annual Great North Run.
Central Area Command
Newcastle
upon Tyne
A passionate city bursting with Northern pride, Newcastle is world-renowned for its nightlife, culture, heritage and sporting venues of St James' Park and Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club. Home to two universities, Newcastle has a thriving student population.
Its suburbs are largely residential and Newcastle is also one of the most diverse areas in our force. We have police bases in the city centre, the West End, Byker and Etal Lane, plus a team stationed within the international airport.
Central Area Command
Gateshead
As well as policing more urban areas in the town centre and its nearby suburbs, we also police more rural areas of country parkland and woodland to the west of Gateshead. The internationally known shopping and leisure destination of the Metro Centre is looked after by Gateshead Police, with a team stationed within the complex.
Central Area Command is also proud to include one of the largest Jewish communities in the country. Our police bases in Gateshead are located in Whickham and in the town centre.
Southern Area
Command
Our Southern Area Command covers South Tyneside and Sunderland, which means policing and supporting the popular annual Sunderland Air Show.
Southern Area Command
Sunderland
Sunderland has a growing student population thanks to its ever-popular university. The city is also home to the Stadium of Light football ground as well as a burgeoning nightlife scene.
It has extensive, well-established residential communities and business districts, including the Nissan complex. We have police bases in Washington, Southwick, the city centre, Farringdon and Houghton-le-Spring. The Area Command is also home to our Mounted Unit.
Southern Area Command
South Tyneside
South Tyneside's population is largely centred around the riverside towns of Jarrow and Hebburn. The summer months see visitors flock to the coastline with its local attractions.
In September we welcome international visitors and athletes for the Great North Run - the largest half marathon in the world - whose finish line sits on the South Tyneside seafront. Our primary police base for the area is Millbank.
