When do I need to tell my current force that I am applying for a transfer?2023-09-29T10:31:05+01:00

It is up to you at which point you inform of your intention to transfer. However, if you have been successful at the interview stage we will contact your HR and Professional Standard Department and ask you to complete a consent form which will allow us to contact your current OHU for transfer of your records. At the point of final offer, your current force will be contacted for training records and references.

If I am successful what formal notice do I need to provide to my current force?2022-05-17T12:19:19+01:00

Should you be successful at interview you should not provide any resignation to your current force until your pre-employment checks have been completed and you have received written notification of a transfer date. We will always endeavour to give you at least 28 days’ notice of your transfer date.

Who can apply to transfer forces?2023-12-22T10:14:19+00:00

Officers who have passed their two year probationary period from any Home Office force, as well as those from British Transport Police and Police Scotland are welcome to apply to transfer to Team NP. Please refer to our additional eligibility criteria for more info.

Can I specify an area of command that I would like to transfer to?2023-09-29T10:33:15+01:00

We will do our best to accommodate your wishes for location preference as part of the recruitment process but this will depend on the vacancies available at the time of posting, your skill set and the Force’s current priority areas. As a result you can be posted anywhere within the force area.

You can, however, specify a preference and make us aware of any extenuating circumstances which will be taken into consideration. Placements will be discussed with you at the point of final offer.

I am part time, can I still apply?2020-04-23T13:43:30+01:00

This does not prevent you from applying; however should you be successful you will be required to make an application for flexible working which will be based upon the shift pattern where you will be based.  Any application will need to be balanced with your needs and those of the force.

Can I apply for a transfer if I am currently on a career break?2023-09-29T10:34:26+01:00

Yes you may apply, however you must have returned to your force prior to any transfer taking place.

What training can I expect to receive?2022-05-17T14:34:12+01:00

To welcome you to Team NP, you’ll join a 4 day induction session alongside other transferees.

We will also arrange any relevant training courses for you to help you settle into your new position. Beyond your initial training, we aim to support the continuous professional development of our officers.
