Apprenticeships are work-based programmes combining on the job training while completing a nationally recognised qualification. Northumbria Police offer apprenticeships across a variety of roles within the force, allowing you to explore your career aspirations while achieving a qualification.
Our most recent apprenticeship opportunities have included:
- Customer Service
- Vehicle Technician
- Contact Handler
- Media and Communication
- Business Support
Where do I find apprenticeship opportunities?
You can find our current apprenticeship opportunities on the job search page.
Please note the opportunity will state ‘apprenticeship’ in the role title. Those that do not state ‘apprenticeship’ are not roles which are supported by the completion of a qualification.
How old do I need to be to become an apprentice?
You should be at least 16 years old but there is no upper age limit to joining our apprenticeship scheme.
Am I eligible for an apprenticeship?
You can find our standard eligibility criteria on our main careers webpage. Dependant on the apprenticeship role you are applying for there may be additional eligibility criteria.
What benefits can I enjoy?
With our apprenticeships you gain hands-on experience, a salary and the chance to train while you work. You’re treated just like all the other employees, with a contract of employment and holiday leave. Plus, you’re entitled to a pension, access to our health and well-being support and shopping discount scheme through the Blue Light card.
What support will I be offered as an apprentice?
As an apprentice with TeamNP we’ll support your personal development and career progression. We have a dedicated team of mentors who will be on hand throughout your apprenticeship.
