Location: Location Based, Ponteland Police Station


Hours/Contract: Permanent, 22hrs per week (Monday – Friday, there is flexibility around the days and times)

The role


Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Digital Policing Department as an IT Stores Technician.


Working alongside colleagues in the Stores function you will participate in the delivery of a high preforming, cost effective Digital Policing stores support service that meets the agreed service levels for critical business functions. Working in stores you will maintain, check and audit stock of designated Digital Policing equipment and accessories while administering the Digital Policing asset register for equipment held in the Stores. You will oversee the End User Device equipment returns, repair and replacement process and provide advice and guidance on the use of equipment issued.


What you’ll do



  • Working in a busy Stores environment you will be responsible for booking in, updating, issuing and disposing of IT kit ensuring that the Digital Policing asset register is updated at all times through the equipment’s lifecycle.

  • Using your communication skills you will assist customers visiting stores to collect a range of IT equipment, offering guidance and assistance on the basic operating instructions of the equipment being issued.

  • Linking in with 3rd Parties, you will invoke the return / warranty process for kit requiring repairs in line with force policy and procedure.

  • Monitor stock levels, ensuring accurate stock records are maintained and minimum stock levels are always available.

What you’ll bring



  • Previous experience of working in a stores environment, using a range of Microsoft M365 products and a support environment ticketing system (JIRA, SCSM etc).

  • Experience working within demand lead role while being fully aware of Service Level Agreements and accurate record keeping.

  • Strong teamworking skills and ability to work collectively to deliver force objectives.

  • Good communication skills, being able to set out logical, clear instructions adapting language and messages to meet the needs of different people / audiences.

Terms of appointment


This is a part time, permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
