The starting police officer salary for new constables is: £28,551. Over 7 years, subject to a simple performance review, you can earn up to £46,044

There are currently the following entry routes open for application: 


 


To become a Response Officer, we offer;


 


Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) for those without a degree, providing you the opportunity to train as a uniformed officer whilst earning and studying towards a full-funded degree.


 


Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP) for those without higher education experience, providing practical policing skills without achieving a degree qualification.


 


Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP) for those that hold a Level 6 bachelor’s degree (or higher) in any subject.



 

To become a Detective Constable we offer the Graduate Detective Programme (GDP) for those that hold a Level 6 bachelor’s degree (or higher) in any subject.

 

Those that already have a BSc (Hons) Professional Policing Practice from a College of Policing supported university can apply to either the Graduate Detective Programme (GDP) or the Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP).

Our virtual discovery events will give you an insight into what working as a response officer or a detective for Northumbria Police is really like, which entry route would suit you best and give you a head start in understanding our recruitment process.
