Location: Agile, Middle Engine Lane Police Station and homeworking


Hours/Contract: 37 hours per week, permanent

The role  


Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Corporate Development Department as a Performance Analyst. 


Our Corporate Development Department is at the forefront of developing the Performance Framework across Northumbria Police. We provide performance data and insight to executive and operational levels to support delivery of the Force’s strategic objectives.


An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our Corporate Development Department as a Performance Analyst. The post holder will report into the Corporate Performance Manager and sits within the Performance and Public Insight Team in Corporate Development. As such, the individual will need to operate as part of this team and the wider force. Working cross functionally and dealing with multiple stakeholders across the organisation.


This is an exciting time to join a team that leads on the development and analysis of business intelligence to inform organisational change and Force improvement.  It also supports the Force’s performance management framework, ensuring that organisational risks to performance are identified. 


What you’ll do  


You will provide specialist professional guidance and services concerning statistical analysis and research methods in order to fulfil the Force’s performance management objectives.


The successful candidate will have responsibility for the effective generation, analysis and presentation of management information for operational and decision making for the Force. 


Providing analysis and insight, you need to be able to interpret data concisely in a way that is easy to digest for all stakeholders.


You will work with internal stakeholders to identify their current and future reporting needs, support with the development of business intelligence and assist with the creation of insight products to inform organisational change and Force improvement.


You will also be responsible for the line management and development of a small team of direct reports.

What you’ll bring  


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in providing specialist professional guidance and services concerning statistical analysis and research methods in order to fulfil the Force’s performance management objectives, including:



  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify themes, trends and issues.

  • Advanced technical competencies in a range of analytical software (e.g. Microsoft Excel, BI products) to design and build user friendly, informative analytical products to inform decision making and performance discussions.

  • High level of planning and organising.

  • Excellent data-led problem solving skills with the ability to identify areas of risk and improvement.

  • Line Management – Experience in coaching, empowering and motivating others.

  • Proven, outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Able to present information effectively and with impact.

  • Experience of working in a fast paced, performance environment

Terms of appointment  


This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
