The role


Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Executive Department as a Misconduct Coordinator.  We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Misconduct Coordinator to join our Executive Team.


This role is crucial in supporting the management of misconduct hearings, ensuring the process is effective, efficient, and compliant with legislative requirements. 


What you’ll do



  •  Act as lead in coordinating ACC/ACO availability to chair misconduct hearings and pre-hearings and contribute to the administration of the overall misconduct process. 

  • Provide confidential and comprehensive support to misconduct hearings and pre-hearings Chaired by the Executive Team ensuring that team members are adequately briefed in advance of the hearings.

  • Liaising with the Executive Support Team to ensure executive diaries are finalised for attendance at hearings and pre-hearings ensuring that these take place in line with legislative requirements. Liaise with legal counsel/ appropriate authority on dates and availability for hearings and pre-hearings.

  • Responsible for dealing with all correspondence relating to misconduct hearings from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, Professional Standards, legal, the officers representatives and identifying actions required and advising the allocated panel chair of requirements ensuring that appropriate responses align with prescribed timescales and that all correspondence is dealt with promptly and efficiently.

  • Communicating on behalf of the Executive Team with key stakeholders.

  • Maintain flexible working practices to meet demands of the Executive Team.

Whilst the role is agile the successful candidate will be flexible and able to work from the office depending on training and organisational needs.


What you’ll bring 



  • Strong written communication skills, attention to detail with the ability to articulate complex matters.

  • Ability to deal with matters of a highly sensitive nature.

  • Skilled in the use of standard IT packages, systems, and databases to fulfil role requirements.

  • Ability to prioritise, organise, and manage workload in a time-critical environment.

  • Ability to work unsupervised using own initiative.

  • Good analytical skills with the ability to understand potentially complex misconduct matters and notify Executive Team Panel Chairs of actions required in the misconduct process.

  • An ability to develop close working relationships with Staff Office in order to manage wider workload effectively.

  • Able to work as part of a team and promote force values and behaviour.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders appropriately and build good relationships.

  • Ability to present written information clearly and accurately.

Terms of appointment


This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
