The role


 


Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! It takes a great deal of people from different backgrounds, with diverse skills and experience to serve our force area effectively, think you have what it takes to help us make a difference? This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Force Transformation Department as a System Administrator.


 


Join us in providing excellent configuration, support, and maintenance for our Records Management Systems and Gazetteer. You’ll be proactive in identifying and solving problems, implementing system improvements and updates, and helping users make the most of these systems. Plus, you’ll share your expertise with Force business users and representatives, ensuring everyone is up to speed.


 


What you’ll do


 



  • Systems Administration Support: Provide support for software issues, including fault diagnosis, problem-solving, system testing, user access, and daily monitoring. Perform system health checks and manage upgrades.

  • Technical Environment Management: Ensure all technical environments are up-to-date and synchronised.

  • System Configuration and Development: Plan and undertake system configuration, support ongoing development, and contribute to Digital Policing programs.

  • Data Accuracy and Integrity: Maintain data accuracy, resolve duplicate data issues, and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to share best practices.

  • Training and Knowledge Sharing: Identify training needs, configure system features, maintain system knowledge, suggest improvements, support process mapping, and liaise with stakeholders to optimise system performance and share best practices.

What you’ll bring


 



  • Experience and Skills: Proven experience in a service and project-managed environment, with strong organisational skills and familiarity with formal project management methodologies.

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Excellent at evaluating information, explaining complex issues, and using logical, innovative thinking to solve problems.

  • Initiative and Prioritisation: Capable of working independently, prioritising tasks to meet business needs, and using a structured approach to manage priorities.

  • Communication and Relationship Building: Skilled at bridging technical and business language, developing good working relationships with various stakeholders, and effectively communicating with different audiences.

Terms of appointment


 


This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.


 


If you are successful in your application, you will have a six-month probation period with us where you will be unable to apply for any other post advertised internally or externally.
