Ever wondered what it’s like working behind the scenes for one of the UK’s largest Police Forces? Here at Northumbria Police, we are extremely excited to be able to offer an amazing opportunity to come and join us as a Police National Computer Bureau (PNCB) Administrator.

Agile working patterns apply to this position where informal agile working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

The Role:

The PNCB is responsible for updating the PNC with relevant and timely information relating to people and vehicles, working with partner agencies to achieve national performance standards, providing information and giving specialist advice as requested.

What will I be doing?

As a member of the PNCB team you will be completing a range of functions which are predominantly computer based. You will have access to local and national systems to enable you to update and interrogate information, respond to enquiries and provide information to colleagues and partner agencies in compliance with force policy and legislation.

There are four specific areas of work:

  • Creating, amending and interrogating PNC data, ensuring it is accurate and relevant

  • Where offenders are wanted on Warrant, completing enquiries in an attempt to locate them so they can be brought to justice

  • Working in liaison with partner agencies, HMCtS, CPS and DVLA

  • Administration of the force Streets and Premises system

The successful individual will work as part of the PNCB team and will receive training over time to enable them to deliver services across all of the Bureau functions

What do I need?

  • You’ll need to be a confident communicator.

  • To have worked as part of a team (personally or professionally)

  • To be able to demonstrate experience in administrative support.

  • A keen eye for detail ensuring all data processed is recorded accurately

  •  Be passionate about delivering exceptional service.

  • Experience of working successfully with others.

  • Experience in PNC updating would be beneficial.

Vetting Level – Recruitment Vetting (RV)

Applicants must be a resident of the UK for a minimum period of 3 years to ensure vetting checks can be successfully performed.  A job offer will be dependent upon vetting clearance, medical information and references.
