An opportunity has arisen to join the Police National Computer Bureau (PNCB) based at Bedlington.  The PNCB is responsible for updating the PNC with relevant and timely information relating to people and vehicles, working with partner agencies to achieve national performance standards, providing information and giving specialist advice as requested.

In return for your dedication and experience, we offer 23 days’ leave, excluding bank holidays, increasing to 28 days for 5 years+ service.  We support our people inside and out of work – offering a very competitive pension scheme, childcare vouchers, and discounts on shopping and eating out thanks to the Blue Light Card. And to take care of your physical and mental well-being, we’ve invested in extensive paid sick leave, trained mental health first aiders on-site, an employee advice service and access to gyms in some stations.

What will I be doing?

As a member of the PNCB team you will be completing a range of functions which are predominantly computer based. You will have access to local and national systems to enable you to update and interrogate information, respond to enquiries and provide information to colleagues and partner agencies in compliance with force policy and legislation.

There are four specific areas of work:

  • Creating, amending and interrogating PNC data, ensuring it is accurate and relevant.

  • Where offenders are wanted on Warrant, completing enquiries in an attempt to locate them so they can be brought to justice

  • Working in liaison with partner agencies, HMCtS, CPS and DVLA

  • Administration of the force Streets and Premises system

The successful individual will work as part of the PNCB team and will receive training over time to enable them to deliver services across all of the Bureau functions

What do I need?

Experience in PNC updating would be beneficial.
