This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our NEROCU Department as a Maintenance Operative (NEROCU).


 


This is a diverse role where you’ll be providing support and development to your team who will be responsible for all maintenance and administrative duties in our building. We can guarantee that no two days will be the same – you’ll face new challenges, work with colleagues with all levels of experience and generally – expect the unexpected!


 


What you’ll do


 


This role is crucial in ensuring our busy regional team can operate smoothly and you will be instrumental in supporting Police Officers/Staff on a day-to-day basis. No two days will be the same, one day you could be ensuring our fleet vehicles are ready for operational duty and the next you could be completing office moves. Most importantly, you’ll be delivering a fantastic service to a wide variety of stakeholders.




  • Maintaining the building and exterior areas to ensure that staff and visitors using the building are provided a safe and functional environment.

  • Carrying out basic repairs and maintenance throughout the building and on vehicles.

  • Undertake office moves and transfers to ensure staff have the correct equipment and supplies.

  • Support and work alongside external contractors.

  • Report faults within building to ensure these are completed in realistic timescales.

  • Undertake driving duties as and when required.

What you’ll bring


 




  • You’ll need to have excellent planning and organisational skills, prioritising workloads effectively, ensuring a high quality of service to our customers.

  • You will be motivated and a self-starter, working independently to manage the workload.

  • An understanding of health and safety.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt to a variety of stakeholders.

  • Confidence to manage expectations of numerous stakeholders and take personal responsibility for addressing any barriers to delivery.

  • Competent with IT, able to input data onto the maintenance databases.


 


This is a varied role where you’ll also provide support all staff across NERSOU. You’ll need to be flexible in your approach and able to manage a variety of people in different roles. You’ll also need a valid UK driving licence to travel between sites when required.

North East Regional Organised Crime Unit is one of ten Regional Organised Crime

Units (“ROCU”) in England and Wales who lead the regional response to tackling

serious and organised crime whilst supporting local and national delivery. The

ROCU network continues to expand and Home Office funding through police officer

uplift and increased police staff capacity presents exciting opportunities to

further enhance service delivery and positively impact on our partners and the

public. The Home Office Serious and Organised Crime Strategy defines ROCU as leading

the regional fight against Serious and Organised Crime and NEROCU have a

critical role in leading, connecting and co-ordinating delivery across our

region in all four P’s of the strategy; Pursue – prosecuting and disrupting

people engaged in serious and organised criminality. Prevent – preventing

people from engaging in serious and organised criminality. Protect – increasing

protection against organised crime. Prepare – reducing the impact of serious

and organised crime where it takes place. NEROCU comprises of specialist

teams delivering across intelligence, operations, investigations, cyber,

economic, technical and digital capabilities.  


 


Terms of appointment


 


This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
