A 12 month fixed term contract/secondment is available as an Intelligence Development Manager with NERSOU

You will manage and develop the Intelligence Development Team by providing specialist and operational support, research and direction on strategic, tactical and emerging issues by identifying, disrupting and dismantling organised crime groups causing the most significant harm across the North East. The post holder will also have line management responsibility for Operation Silver (regional response to the Western Balkans controlled Cannabis cultivation) and MARSOC (Multi-Agency Response to Serious Organised Crime). 

The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the effective administration of the NERSOU Gateway system.

It must be noted that the NERSOU Intelligence Development Team is mid-way through a 12 month proof of concept hence this post is being offered as a 12 month contract.

What will I be doing?

You will lead and manage the Intelligence Development Team, ensuring compliance with relevant intelligence processes, legislation and guidance in line with regional/national tasking and NERSOUs vision, mission and values.  On a daily basis you will oversee planning and deployment of the full range of intelligence development tactics to fill intelligence gaps, while chairing intelligence/local tasking meetings and delivering/reviewing intelligence collection plans. This is all with the goal of giving the best possible support to tier 1 investigations and to identifying opportunities for tier 2 disruptions. 

What do I need?

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a proven track record of leading and managing complex serious organised crime investigations in partnership with force colleagues and other LEA’s such as the NCA and Immigration Enforcement. The post holder will need to evidence their experience of leading successful teams, developing SOC intelligence in line with national intelligence processes and utilising the prevailing legislation e.g. RIPA/IPA.

The post holder will be PIP 2 accredited and will be able to demonstrate working knowledge of effective case management process and CPIA. As the manager with responsibility for the ROCU Gateway the post holder must be able to evidence their knowledge of the ROCU Gateway and the national tasking processes which underpin the ROCU network i.e. SOC system tasking, ROCTA and MoRiLE 2020. The post holder will play a pivotal role in ensuring that requests for support coming into NERSOU are effectively managed, ensuring that the most appropriate tactics/capabilities are commissioned to meet the investigative requirements. For that reason a detailed knowledge of the wider NERSOU capabilities is considered essential.
