Salary:  C - G (£19,374 - £31,725)




This is a 12 month fixed term contract/secondment opportunity 




All staff including those appointed on fixed term contracts must successfully complete their probationary period before they are eligible to apply for a Northumbria Police vacancy (both internally and externally advertised).

What you will be doing? 




On a daily basis you will monitor budgets, investigating and challenging unexpected expenditure, producing monthly reports to assigned Departmental heads. You will work with senior managers from across the force to ensure accurate projections, provide advice, whilst ensuring they understand their current financial position. You will also support the financial budgeting cycle including year-end and budget setting in addition to ensuring compliance with financial regulations. You will conduct internal reviews on finance processes and provide recommendations for improvements, helping drive out efficiencies





What you will need? 




You should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, a desire to work within a finance function and have obtained AAT accounting qualification or equivalent.




The successful candidate will have:




· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· An understanding and knowledge of budget setting processes.

· Experience in working with finance IT systems.

· Experience of operating to strict deadlines within a busy finance team.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel is essential.
